HAKKA ABACUS (Suan Pan Zi)

Enjoy this special authentic Hakka dish, also called ‘Suan Pan Zi’. The yam balls are shaped like the beads in the ancient Abacus (aka ancient calculator), which were widely used by the rich merchants in the shops of ancient China.

This dish was a festive dish and were eaten only on festive occasions. Thanks to our lovely Singapore Hakka ladies who lovingly hand-rolled the yam dough, creating this unique dish for our daily servings.

Freshly stir-fried at the cafe upon request. Try this authentic Hakka ‘Suan Pan Zi’ at ThenCafe@Hamilton today.

5 star review  This nondescript place at evenings operated by a different Chef from day time sells some of the most mouth watering fusion pastas around town. Tried both the Satay Chicken pasta and the Laksa Seafood pasta and both are truly value for money at less the $15 per plates! The pastas are generous with ingredients and prawns are truly very fresh!Sadly, the evening business only opens on Tues, Thurs & Sats and has limited seats. Better go try it out before it becomes popular and hard to find seats!
